SHELL BEACH // SOLAR FLARE - CD

CD Jewelcase (incl. 8 page booklet)

    RELEASE DATE: 17/02/2023

Traversing between post-hardcore and experimental, Hungarian alternative rock outfit Shell Beach deliver an incredible third album 'Solar Flare', out via Wild Thing Records on February 17th, 2023. Expanding on their hardcore and shoegaze roots, the band have produced a well crafted and evolved record, heading in a more progressive direction than ever before, showcasing their intangible gift for introspective songwriting infused with their unique alt rock sound. Recorded in seclusion at LA Garden Studios, situated in the picturesque forests of southern Hungary, and written during extended Covid lockdowns; 'Solar Flare' delves deep into themes of mental health, loss and rebirth, as well as the enduring will to survive, despite life’s trials and tribulations.

Initially formed in 2008, and with extensive European touring under their belt, Shell Beach’s lineup has transformed over time into what is now a Hungarian supergroup from Budapest’s highly respected underground rock scene. The group is led by Paul Somló on guitar - son of famous Hungarian singer Tamás Somló (from world recognised acts Omega and Locomotiv GT), and fronted by new lead vocalist Zoltán Bodóczy (Grand Mexican Warlock). 'Solar Flare' also features a unique cover of the 1994 Hungarian smash hit ‘Olyan Szépek Voltunk’ (We Were So Beautiful); a tribute to the original songwriter Tamás Somló, the late father of Shell Beach guitarist Paul Somló.

Absolution 04:22
Turn the tide around I’m here on my own Yearn for absolution Still here on my own ‘Cos you never wait But I was trying Yes you never wait And I’m still trying So tired Memories are fadin’ out No one Helps me carry on This is the life Life for those left behind So tired Wakin’ every day alone These times Haunting on and on This is the life Life for those left behind Turn the tide around I’m here on my own Yearn for absolution Still here on my own ‘Cos you never wait But I was trying Yes you never wait And I’m still trying Deep down I’m a child who cares to dream It’s all right Sing to me a lullaby This is the life Life for me I’m left behind Yes You So close So close, but still so far Last words I give you my last words

Hero 04:47
Is this my voice echoing in my head Bouncing ‘round Poking my mind, demanding answers All the time Still that same voice screaming in my head Searching for answers Might be coming From above It seems to me that I disappear before your eyes Your love is so bright It completely burns me I must hide This one last word screaming in my head Nothing to wonder ‘Cos I burned every Bridge we built! We built! I burned the bridge we built! ‘Cos you You should’ve known, but I kept it I did not care to admit I was not over my painful past Yeah you didn’t know Baby I was born too cruel And I have not been hurt so far I understand if you don’t want to know Where I hide This one last word screaming in my head Nothing to wonder ‘Cos I burned every Bridge we built! We built! I burned the bridge we built! ‘Cos you You should’ve known, but I kept it And I did not care to admit But you, you’ll get better So soon much better then me You’ll get better And you, you will not hear You will not hear! You will not hear! From me!

I dwelt apart From the visible world It’s so easy Moss-covered slopes Grotesque oak trees It’s so pleasing I must speak I must try I must be I must try Wild dances In the beams of The waning moon And all of these All of these things Now i must speak of I must speak I must try I must be I must try I must speak I must try I must be I must try I will never forget the day When i first stumbled upon The half-hidden house of death
