Traversing between post-hardcore and experimental, Hungarian alternative rock outfit Shell Beach deliver an incredible third album 'Solar Flare', out via Wild Thing Records on February 17th, 2023. Expanding on their hardcore and shoegaze roots, the band have produced a well crafted and evolved record, heading in a more progressive direction than ever before, showcasing their intangible gift for introspective songwriting infused with their unique alt rock sound. Recorded in seclusion at LA Garden Studios, situated in the picturesque forests of southern Hungary, and written during extended Covid lockdowns; 'Solar Flare' delves deep into themes of mental health, loss and rebirth, as well as the enduring will to survive, despite life’s trials and tribulations.
Initially formed in 2008, and with extensive European touring under their belt, Shell Beach’s lineup has transformed over time into what is now a Hungarian supergroup from Budapest’s highly respected underground rock scene. The group is led by Paul Somló on guitar - son of famous Hungarian singer Tamás Somló (from world recognised acts Omega and Locomotiv GT), and fronted by new lead vocalist Zoltán Bodóczy (Grand Mexican Warlock). 'Solar Flare' also features a unique cover of the 1994 Hungarian smash hit ‘Olyan Szépek Voltunk’ (We Were So Beautiful); a tribute to the original songwriter Tamás Somló, the late father of Shell Beach guitarist Paul Somló.
